Ovarian cancer is the gynecological cancer with the highest mortality worldwide. It is the fifth most frequent malignant epithelial tumor in women in Spain and more than 80% of patients are diagnosed in advanced stages (stages III or IV). The overall survival rate at 5 years is less than 50% and at 10 years it is between 5% and 21%.
Precision medicine is the new paradigm within neoplastic pathology. The molecular characterization of tumors opens the door to the discovery of biomarkers with multiple possibilities both in early detection and knowledge of the evolution of the disease, and in approaching new targeted therapies.
