Although the activity carried out with in the UCIE framework applies to any area of innovation with application in the healthcare field, common priority lines have been defined, given the capacities of the Fisabio Foundation, the business environment and the challenges identified by the agents of the Valencian Innovation System:
➥ Line 1. Human microbiome. Probiotics and postbiotics for health improvement. Aligned with the Strategic Innovation Committee (CEIE in Spanish) specialized in Agrifood of IVACE+i: Challenge 1-Production of healthier foods and Innovation Commetee (CI in Spanish) in Food and Hospital Diet. Challenge 1-Redefinition and elaboration of diets adapted to age and clinical situation, contemplating '5S food' (in Spanish): healthy, safe, satisfying, sustainable and social.
➥ Line 2. Neurodegenerative and chronic diseases. Aligned with CEIE in Health: Challenge 1-Control and/or prevention of frailty-chronicity through the use of Artificial Intelligence tools and/or Big Data applied to electronic medical records data.
➥ Line 3. Green hospitals. Aligned with CEIE in Circular Economy: Challenge 1-More sustainable consumer goods; R2-More efficient waste recovery; CEIE in Decarbonization: Challenge 1-Substitution of fossil fuels in energy production and use; and Challenge 3-Improved energy storage and management.
