Health4EUkids aims to apply health promotion and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at a broader level and in several European countries, identifying best practices and specific risk factors for childhood obesity identified in previous research.
The overall objective of the Joint Action is to develop policies to encourage public health investment at the EU level in each member country in health promotion, disease prevention and NCD management.
It is intended to transfer to member states two best practices in health promotion: Grünau Moves, established in Germany, and Smart Family, established in Finland. The implementation process will include knowledge transfer between the owners of the best practices (Smart Family) and Grünau Moves and partner institutions in the Member States through the implementation of actions, cooperation and knowledge sharing between Member States, organization of meetings and related technical support.

The practice focuses on promoting conditions for children to participate in fun and dynamic environments in order to increase physical activity and improve overall health. The ultimate goal is to enable children in various regions to adopt healthier lifestyles and prevent obesity, addressing a major public health problem. This transfer enables other nations to benefit from its proven success in the Grünau district of Leipzig, Germany. - Promote health (in kindergartens and schools) by increasing awareness, knowledge and skills, professional self-esteem and cooperation among local actors;
- Encourage physical activity and health through promotion and persuasion of policy makers: changes in street design and youth welfare planning;
