The HORUS project aims to address noncommunicable diseases, especially diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (CVD), in urban settings among vulnerable populations, such as low-income communities, migrants and ethnic minorities. The project seeks to analyze and explore the causal links between the characteristics of the urban built environment and the prevalence of risk behaviors for NCDs, as well as to develop pilot interventions in three European countries (Spain, Croatia and the Netherlands) to promote behavioral changes towards healthier lifestyles in these populations. This includes modifying the physical and social environment in ways that encourage healthier behaviors and reduce the risks associated with diabetes and CVD.
